Ingrown Toe Nail Treatment

Ingrown toenail treatment helps relieve pain and correct nails growing into the surrounding skin.

Ingrown toenail treatment is used to manage a condition where the edge of the toenail grows into the surrounding skin, causing pain, redness, swelling, and sometimes infection. It commonly affects the big toe and can worsen if not treated early.

Treatment depends on severity. In mild cases, keeping the area clean, wearing proper footwear, and gently lifting the nail edge may help relieve symptoms. Antibiotic creams or medications may be prescribed if there is infection.

For moderate to severe cases, a minor surgical procedure may be required. This may involve partial or complete removal of the affected nail edge (nail avulsion) and in some cases, treatment of the nail root to prevent recurrence.

Proper nail trimming, wearing comfortable shoes, and maintaining foot hygiene are important to prevent ingrown toenails from coming back.
