White spots treatment

White spots treatment

White spots on the skin can occur due to different causes such as vitiligo, fungal infections (tinea versicolor), nutritional deficiencies, or post-inflammatory changes after skin injury. Treatment depends on the underlying cause identified by a dermatologist.

For fungal-related white spots, antifungal creams, shampoos, or oral medications are commonly used. In cases of vitiligo, treatment may include topical steroids, calcineurin inhibitors, phototherapy (light therapy), and in some cases surgical options to restore pigment. If white spots are due to nutritional deficiencies, improving diet and taking vitamin supplements may help. Post-inflammatory white spots usually improve gradually on their own over time with proper skin care and sun protection.

Early diagnosis is important to choose the right treatment and prevent progression or recurrence.
